COLLECTION 2022/23

Dirt & Divinity

I’m drawn to creating landscapes that feel queer and familiar. Neither here nor there. I chase the movement, creation, and finale utilizing
free association technique that reveals rivers, crusts, sublime spaces, grotesque textures and visuals you want to touch.

This particular collection feels more like home than other pieces as the pigments are harvested from dirt in Abquiui, New Mexico. A place of inspiration that has fed many historic artists. I collected, sifted, and ground up purples, reds, and browns. Charcoal black picked from burned remnants of piñon, and sand from the banks of the Rio Grande used to make course pumice. The laborious process allowed me to reach new states of meditation, play, and experimentation. A new level of intention and sacredness takes shape through these harvested colors, transporting you to not only the physical sites,
but the feeling of being there.
